Welcome to StanMed.net Discussion Forums 3 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Dear StanMed.net member/visitor,
Thanks for visiting the brand new incarnation of StanMed.net. It's my pleasure to welcome you. Our site has gone through several ups and downs, and I think it's finally up for good. It has took us some months to get the server up and running after the last crash in January 2004, and our web hosting company did not have any backups. Please register for the forums, and let's put some Stanlean Spirit into action online. Together, let us make StanMed.net a great place for all Stanleans online.

Thanks,

Senthil Kumar Nachimuthu.
StanMed.net Administrator and Webmaster.
SMC Alumnus - Elysee 94 (Class of 2000)..

Good work and kudos to Senthil.

I wish Stanmed.net really becomes the melting pot for all Stanleans.

There are about 10 very active forums - all batch forums (groups) on yahoo and MSN. Stanleans should be willing to migrate those forums to private forums conceived in this site. After all forums are the heart throb of any site.

The advantages of hosting a batch forum in stanmed as against yahoo or MSN is that
1. It is advertisement free.
2. It has superior features.

The disadvantages are
1. There is no true e-mail access. i.e It is not possible to reply to posts entirely by e-mail without visiting the site.
2. Migration of user accounts is time consuming.

We need a crack team that will talk to batch moderators and convince them to migrate the forum to this site. The crack team should strive to increase membership and participation and make this a very active site - not only for entertainment but for business, profession and information including critical information for professional survival.
The team should recommend new batch sites to be added here. We have batch88.stanmed.net (88'Batch) and stanley89.stanmed.net (89' Batch) Other batches (90' and 91' Batches)which were once online are unheard-of for over two years No new batch has gone online after 2001.

We need more admins, distribute and backup work load. Right now it is a one man army by Senthil. That is why when it falls, it takes a long time to get up again.
And last learn from old mistakes - Back up your data.

91 batch? 3 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Ravi,
How are you? This is Anand, 91 batch, from USA. You said, 91 batch group was there. I belong to that batch and I do not think there was one. We are the biggest batch in stanley so far and unfortunately we do not have a group. Now, stanmed.net has paved a way(easy way than before) to generate a separate group for 91 batch. I guess, this time it will be a great success. Let us see. Regards. Bye and take care.

I can create a private forum for each class on here, so that they can discuss general topics for all Stanleans in the public forums, and private topic for their classmates only in their own private forum. There's already one for my class - but I'm the only one on there. It feels lonely. hock:

Hi ,
This is Senthil here, Swazam '98 batch. This site is just great! Thanks to the effort of the moderators. If only we could bring in more and more Stanleans, this site would be one among those with the most number of hits per day! Take care, Bye!

Andhai,
How do you do? Smart as ever.
Thanks for pointing out the omission. I actually meant classes 2000 and 2001 (our own admin's batch

Well if you have the desire, I could arrange to have a batch site (like batch88.stanmed.net) built for you. Care to take??

Take care,
Ravi Ganesh

12 thousand hits 2 Years, 12 Months ago Karma: 0
Wow,
This page has taken 12000 hits.
Many of them would be stanleans possibly wishing to find their lost classmates.
But alas there is no organised effort to serve this huge traffice coming to this site. Possibly may would return dissappointed not finding the information they seek.
This site is like a big hoarding in a busy place which is absolutely blank.
It is a shame that such big potential is being allowed to go untapped.

Is there any Stanlean currently at Stanley willing to actively participate.
We need such people to bring life to this site.

Not all are energetic at all times. But if a few could collectively be for a short duration we could make something happen.

Ravi,
Yep, it's such a pity that no one has the time/energy to contribute to this website - including myself. I want to move this site to a new server, but I've been working 60+ hour weeks and I'm totally swamped. I think I'll get around to it in September. I'll get in touch with you around the end of the month about that if you have some free time. Thanks,

Senthil.

Senthil,
did u recieve my CD of Stanley photos that i sent last week. I've joined my residency in Pittsburgh in AGH. I'm free on some of the days. We can make the site active again. I'm ready to contribute as much as possible in developing the website. Is there any way that we can have an official Stanley website. email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it about this.I met a couple of old stanleans in Pittsburgh, one of them is an established faculty member in my hospital in Psychiatry.. his wife is a pathologist and also a Stanlean. We can start regrouping again..give your input about this.

Thanks,
Murali

Hi Murali.
I received the CD you sent, thanks a lot. Oh yeah, regrouping would be great. I'm in touch with the US Alumni Assoc, and they keep me posted about their events. Please tell the alumni in your hospital about this website too.

I found a bunch of new modules I can add to the website, for instance, a profile page for each member so you can search for your classmates, a photo gallery where members can post the photos, a chat system, etc. I'll post the photos as soon as I get the gallery module working - hopefully in September.

I'm not sure if we can make this the "official" Stanley site. That would make me jump through the bureaucratic hoops. I would however be glad to offer any cooperation and assistance if they need. There was this SMC Department of Medicine website last year, but it seems to be down too.

Let me see, I would love to have a transcript verification system through this website though. It would require getting an electronic interface to MGR University computers, or they should manually enter the data. Dunno which one is feasible. I could even let the college people print transcripts in a standardized format from our website, and then any recipients of the transcripts can come here to verify the authenticity. Of course, we can charge a nominal free that helps to pay the bills for this website. Let's see if there are any takers for this plan.

Congratulations! I hope you have a great time in your residency program. I'll let you know if I travel close to your city.

Take care,

Senthil.
